A. Martha (Eash) Thomas

HOLLSOPPLE — THOMAS – A. Martha (Eash), 94, Saylor School Road, Hollsopple, went peacefully to be with the Lord Dec. 11, 2013, at Laurel View Village. Born Sept. 14, 1919, in  Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, daughter of Menno and Lizzie (Thomas) Eash. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Paul S., Sept. 15, 1998; sisters, Edna, Grace and Edith Eash and Cora Mishler; and brothers, Henry, Lester and Earl Eash. Survived by sons, Marvin E., married to Judy (Hoover); Stanwin P.; and Dale O., married to Retha (Miller), all of the Thomas Mills area; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A long standing member of Thomas Mennonite Church, where she was a member of the Sewing Circle and served as Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She and Paul were avid campers and traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada and experienced a camping trip to Alaska, enjoying God’s creation. They also were members of the Jayco Club for many years. Martha was well-known for her delicious homemade donuts. Paul operated heavy equipment for many years through the Operating Engineers. A very special thanks to niece, Miriam (Mishler) Cochran for being mother’s live in caregiver for many years in her later life, enabling her to live at home. We can never, ever thank you enough! Also, a special thank you to the caring staff at Laurel View Village for giving her daily care in her last year and also to the Interim Hospice staff during her last week here on earth. Viewing from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thomas Mennonite Church, Pastor Randall Schlabach and Pastor Wes Yoder, presiding. Interment, church cemetery.
