Genevieve B. (Decewicz) Bonitz

WINDBER — BONITZ – Genevieve B. (Decewicz), 89, Windber, passed away peacefully in her sleep Dec. 4, 2013, at Church of the Brethren Home, Windber.  Born Jan. 16, 1924, in Windber, daughter of Charles and Adella Decewicz. Preceded in death by husband, James N. Bonitz; and grandsons, Todd Allan Bonitz and Brett Richard Bonitz. Genevieve was the last surviving member of her four brothers and two sisters. Survived by children, James and Sharon (Callihan) Bonitz; David and Becky (Yaskola) Bonitz; and Lydia (Bonitz), wife of Jim Furmanchik, all of Windber; grandchildren, Amy, Adam and Maria Bonitz; Jaimie, wife of Michael Thomas, and their son, Alexander, and daughter, Camryn; and Liz, wife of Michael Muscatello, and their son, Dominic. Also survived by very special niece, Mary Decewicz; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Genevieve was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Former owner of Bonitz Trucking, Windber. Member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber, where Genevieve was a member of the waitress staff. At the request of the family, there will be no viewing or visitation, however, family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber, the Rev. Martin Cingle. Interment, St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery, Windber. Arrangements by William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber. Donations may be made to Church of the Brethren Nursing Home, Windber, in Genevieve’s memory.
