Margaret A. (Opett) Alt

WINDBER — ALT – Margaret A. (Opett), 89, Windber, went to be with the Lord and joined her husband, Frank, Sept. 30, 2013. Born May 12, 1924, in Windber, daughter of Andrew and Mary (Major) Opett. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Francis J. Alt Jr.; brothers, Andrew, John, Pete, Joseph, Mike and Steve Opett; and sister, Ann Apple. Survived by sons, Francis J. Alt  III, married to the former Sylvia Steffke, Dearborn, Mich.; and David A. Alt, married to the former Jacqueline Hershberger, Richland; grandchildren, Francis J. Alt IV, and wife, Lindsay (Williford); Krista S. Alt; and Mark Meek and great-grandchildren, Kinley Alt and Mark Meek. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Gladys Opett, Michigan; and Amelia (Alt), wife of Steve Kristofco; and brother-in-law; Charles Alt, both of Johnstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Former employee of Ripple’s Restaurant and Glosser Bros. Department Store, Johnstown. Margaret was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was being with her family and friends and being active at her church. She especially enjoyed duck pin bowling. Member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Windber, where Margaret was a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Mary Guild and where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, the Rev. George M. Gulash. Committal, Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber, where vigil for the deceased will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Windber Hospice in Margaret’s memory.
