WINDBER — GARWOOD – Michael Eric, 47, Quemahoning Towers, Windber, died Oct. 5, 2013, at home. Born Sept. 1, 1966, in Windber, son of Frank Garwood and Wanda (Holsopple) Kimmel-Van. Preceded in death by father. Survived by mother, and these siblings: Phyllis, married to Rich Harmon, Mechanicsburg; Jeff, married to Susan (Schrock) Darr, Somerset; and Joe, married to Tara Kimmel, Hooversville. Also survived by nephews and nieces, Craig Harmon, Daniel (Andrea) Harmon and Taya, Natalie and Kyra Kimmel, and great-nieces and great-nephews, Avery, Connor, Ryker and Silas Harmon. Also survived by numerous friends at Cambria Care Center and Quemahoning Towers. Michael was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, where he played third base for the church’s championship softball teams. He attended Conemaugh Township Area School and was a 1985 graduate of Johnstown Vo-Tech. He was a former member of Hollsopple Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed hunting, four-wheeling, word searches, picnics with family and friends and being outdoors. Michael was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan and enjoyed going to Pirates games or watching them on TV with Mom. He was formerly employed by Jack Brown Wholesale and Tableland Workshop. Family receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc., Davidsville, and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Pastor Nila Cogan and Pastor Gerald Myers, officiating.
