HANOVER — FIGARD – Ethel, 79, Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at home with her loving family by her side. Born Oct. 28, 1933, in Richfield, Ohio, daughter of the late Robert and Norris (Carter) Gunther.  She was the loving wife of the late Rev. C. John Figard, who died May 14, 2003, and with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. Ethel was a member of Cross Keys Fellowship, New Oxford, the Christian and Missionary Alliance.  She was dedicated to her husband and his ministry working alongside him in many different capacities. Ethel is survived by three children, Christine Crosson, Hanover; Stephen Figard, Elizabethtown; and JoAnn Sommers, Florida; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ross Gunther, Akron, Ohio, and Ronald Gunther, Lodi, Ohio; and four sisters, IvaLee Carter, Clinton, Ohio; Sandy Hammond, Kinsman, Ohio; Jeanette Rossi, Clearwater, Fla.; and Joan Castano, Cortland, Ohio.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebekah Figard; two brothers, Robert L. Gunther and Roger Gunther; and three sisters, Naomi Box, Ruby LaSalle and Nancy Schrecengost. A funeral service to celebrate and remember Ethel’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Portage Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 905 Johnson Ave., Portage, with her brother-in-law, the Rev. Ray Hammond, officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Union Cemetery, Summerhill Township, Wilmore.  A time to view and share memories with the family will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at the church. Memorial contributions in memory of Ethel may be made to the VNA Hospice Program of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison St., Hanover, Pa. 17331.
