Florence (Christy) Cangioli

NEW GERMANY — CANGIOLI – Florence  (Christy), New Germany, died Aug. 18, 2013. Born Sept. 24, 1932, in Gallitzin, daughter of James and Ruth  Christy. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 58 years, Aldo P. Cangioli; brothers, Jim, Lawrence and Marvin Christy; sister, Regina  (Christy) Steberger; brothers-in-law, Lou Steberger and Thomas Castelli; and sisters-in-law, Ann and Mary Christy. Survived by children, Harold (Nancy) Cangioli,  Kathy (Charlie) Long, Ruth (David) Ferchalk and Brenda (Bob) Kline; special niece, Hope Slusher; grandchildren, Allan (Mellisa) Long, Lisa (Greg) Wirfel, Dawn (Allen) Larson, Michael (Heather) Szekeresh, Chuck (Corina) Long, Angela (Tom) Kaja, Dave (Carrie) Ferchalk, Chris (Missy) Cangioli, Craig (Pam) Cangioli and Kim (Todd) Keeran; great-grandchildren, (Allan) Austin, Matthew, Maggie, Alison, Jacob and Carrie Long; (Lisa) Calvin and Victoria Wirfel; (Dawn) Jeremiah and Olivia Larson; (Mike) Amanda, Emily and Ellie; (Chuck)  Zackary, Nathan and Rose Long; (Angela) Kate and Mary Kaja; (Dave) Alexis, Rylie and J.D. Ferchalk; (Kim) Kaylee, Natalie and Trevor Keera; and (Craig) Tialia and Kainen Cangioli. Sister of Kenneth Christy. Also sisters-in-law, Teresa Castelli and Carletta Christy. Member of Immaculate Conception Altar and Rosary Society; past Moose officer; member of VFW Auxiliary Post 4963, Ebensburg; Legion of Mary; and ISDA. Florence strived to improve herself by earning her GED later in life, and taking numerous enrichment classes including flower arranging, auto mechanics and oil painting. She liked to paint in oils and painted pictures for all her family and friends. She loved to travel and visited Italy twice. Enjoyed bus trips and casinos. Loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking and crocheting. She was famous for her spaghetti and meatballs and her home was always open to family and friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg, where vigil wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Germany, the Rev. Leon Hont, OSB. Committal, St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Germany.
