GALLITZIN — PLAZEK – Robert C. “Bob,” 78, Gallitzin, died Nov. 19, 2012, at Altoona Hospital. Born Oct. 22, 1934, in Sankertown, son of the late Walter and Mary (Conrad) Plazek. Preceded in death by wife, the former Patricia Conrad, on Oct. 10, 1993; infant daughter, Brenda, in 1964; brothers, Bill and Gary; and sisters, Betty Halarz and Sandra Conway. Survived by daughters, Nancy (Brian) Wagner, Gallitzin; Connie (David) Itell, Loretto; grandchildren, Hunter and Patty Wagner; brothers, John and Jim (Phyllis), both of Sankertown; Ted (Theresa) and Leo, both of Loretto; and Roy, Gallitzin; brother-in-law, Stanley Halarz, Sankertown; and sisters-in-law, Patty Plazek, Lilly; and Kay Plazek, Sankertown. Bob retired in 2001 from SCI-Cresson as a corrections officer. An Air Force veteran of Korean War. Member of Loretto American Legion. A graduate of Cresson High School. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and playing the lottery. Member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Albert Ledoux, celebrant. Committal, St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where vigil service will be held Friday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Gallitzin Fire Company or Gallitzin Ambulance service in Bob’s memory. Military rites by Loretto American Legion and other local military organizations. (
