Ann (Makuchan) Grabusnik

LAURELWOOD CARE CENTER — GRABUSNIK– Ann (Makuchan), 94, LaurelWood Care Center, formerly of  Tire Hill, died Nov. 21, 2013, at LaurelWood. Born June 30, 1919, in Conemaugh, daughter of George and Anna (Petriska) Makuchan. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Anthony A., on Jan. 25, 1969; grandson, Matthew Williams; sisters, Mary Scherzer, Bertha Crocco, Elizabeth Makuchan, Margaret Verno and Olga Pruchnic; and brother, George Makuchan. Survived by daughters, Helene Williams, Jerome, and special friend, Skip Hancheck, Hooversville, and Antoinette Grabusnik, Tire Hill; and grandson, Seth Williams, and special friend, Melody Schneider, Johnstown; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Arianna and Brody Schneider and Ceira Williams; sisters, Julia Yakulich, Johnstown; Irene, married to Joseph Nagrant, New Jersey; Elaine, married to Robert Ritchey, Johnstown; and Sally, married to George Kalinyak, Dublin, Ohio; brother, Michael Makuchan, Johnstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1938 graduate of East Conemaugh High School. During World War II, she worked for Wright Aeronautical, Cincinnati, Ohio.  Most of her life was devoted to her family as homemaker and caretaker. She was a charter member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Benscreek. Member and past officer of CFU Lodge 716 and current member of CFU Lodge 5, Cambria City. Past officer of SNPJ Lodge 289, Tire Hill. Ann enjoyed talking politics, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their thanks to past and present employees of Amber Springs and LaurelWood Care Center for their compassionate and loving care.  Viewing from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville, where a vigil for the deceased will be held Sunday.  Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Father Angelo J.
