COCONUT CREEK, FLA. — KOWAL – Helen B., 94, Coconut Creek, Fla., formerly of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord Nov. 15, 2012, at Northwest Medical Center, Margate, Fla. Born Oct. 15, 1918, in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of Zigmund and Wanda (Augustine) Rovansky. Preceded in death by parents; stepfather, Mike Bilski; husband, Walter F. Kowal Sr.; brothers, Nick and Alex; and sisters, Mary and Lillian. Survived by loving children, Barbara, wife of Michael Havrilesky, Coconut Creek, Fla.; and Walter F. Kowal Jr., Monroe, N.J.; grandchildren, Michael (Briana) Havrilesky, Adam Havrilesky and Jessica Kowal; great-granddaughter, Melania Havrilesky; siblings, Billy Bilski, Cleveland, Ohio; Cecilia Holub, Richland; and Wanda Waligora, Westmont; as well numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was a member of Church of the Transfiguration. She enjoyed cooking and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Baker-Harris Funeral Chapel, Conemaugh, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Transfiguration, Father Robert C. Hall, pastor. Committal, Assumption of the BVM Cemetery.
