Bonnie Lee Marie (Galayda) Hunter

FAIRFAX, VA. — HUNTER – Bonnie Lee Marie (Galayda) passed away June 5, 2014, after courageously fighting her battle with cancer. She is now without pain and will forever be in our hearts and fond memories. She was born June 12, 1949, in Johnstown, daughter of Rudy and Elizabeth Galayda. Beloved wife of the late Craig Hunter. Devoted mother of Jason Hunter and Monica (Hunter) Fish. Loving sister of Skip Galayda, Keith Galayda and Pam Galayda. Proud grandma “Namma” of Dorothy Hunter, Zoey Hunter and Jared Fish. Bonnie was a lifelong cheerleader of others. She started as the captain of her high school cheerleading squad, and continued throughout her life cheering, supporting and inspiring others in both their professional and personal lives. In 2010, Bonnie retired from her career in the Civil Service. She was proud to serve both here and abroad with the Central Intelligence Agency. Her career took her to assignments in several countries throughout Europe. After 9/11, she volunteered to relocate in order to work on homeland defense efforts. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, Va. 22032. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carpenter’s Shelter,  where Bonnie volunteered during her retirement.
