The Race of Champions event slated for today at Jennerstown Speedway has been rescheduled to Sept. 13.
The event is scheduled to feature four NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers in two exhibition races commentated by Rusty Wallace.
“Up to this point, we were able to add Kurt Busch, Clint Bowyer and Ken Schrader to the race lineup. However, locking in the final driver became a challenge and time ran out,” said Joe Dirienzo, track promoter. “Moving the event to September allows us the time to complete the line up and put on a quality event for all our loyal fans.”
Fans that have already purchased a ticket have two options.
The first option is they may transfer their ticket to the new date. The second option is a full refund.
Fans that purchased tickets online must call 1-888-695-0888 to either transfer their ticket or to get a refund. Fans that purchased through the speedway box office must call 629-6677.
Instead of the Race for Champions event, three divisions – hobby stocks, street stocks and super late models – plus super mini-cups will run on the .522-mile asphalt oval today.
Due to severe storms in the forecast, management has made the decision to cancel the open practice scheduled from 1:30-4:30 p.m. today. Pit gates will open at 4:30 p.m., grandstand gates will open at 5:30, practice will start at 6:30 and heat races will begin at 7:30.
Track management will make the final decision to either cancel or run the races by 8:30 a.m. today.
