Chiefs get one, try out another

The Johnstown Chiefs might have two new players in the lineup for this weekend’s home games against Trenton and Reading.

The AHL’s Springfield Falcons assigned defenseman Geoff Waugh to Johnstown on Wednesday. In 10 games with Springfield, Waugh had no points and 25 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound rookie previously appeared in two games with the Chiefs this season, registering two penalty minutes.

The Dallas Stars selected Waugh, a Northern Michigan University product, in the third round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Forward Eric Przepiorka practiced with the Chiefs on Wednesday after being waived by the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies. In 13 games with Utah, Przepiorka had a goal and three points.

The 5-9, 181-pound Przepiorka played four seasons at Dartmouth College, where he scored 39 goals and 102 points in 132 games.

After concluding his college career, he appeared in seven scoreless games for the Florida Everblades last ECHL season. The 25-year-old is a native of Grosse Point, Mich.

The Chiefs hadn’t officially signed Przepiorka on Wednesday, media relations director Leif Skodnick said.
