A positive outlook on marriage will be a side dish during Cornerstone Leadership Foundation’s sixth annual prayer breakfast.
“Developing a Godly Marriage” is the theme for the gathering to be held at 7 a.m. Oct. 7 at the Living/Learning Center at Pitt-Johnstown in Richland Township. Cornerstone Leadership Foundation (CLF), a local faith-based nonprofit, invites pastors, ministry leaders, counselors, youth leaders and volunteers to attend the 90-minute event.

Parishioners at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 211 Powell Ave., Cresson, have been celebrating the church’s 100th anniversary for the past year. A Mass of Thanksgiving to be celebrated at 3 p.m. Sunday will close the centennial festivities.
The Most Rev. Joseph V. Adamec, bishop of the Altoona-Johnstown Roman Catholic Diocese, will be the celebrant.

The sixth annual Harvest in the Park, a free, interdenominational event, will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Windber Recreation Park, Route 160.

Followers of the Jewish faith across the region are called to contemplate their lives before God and their fellow man during the High Holy Days, which will begin at sundown Friday with Rosh Hashana.

A seminar on “Bad Girls of the Bible” will be presented from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at Heavenly Sent Ministries, 429 Second St., Conemaugh. A group of 11 local women from different churches and denominations will give their own interpretations of women in Scripture. “ ‘Bad Girls of the Bible’ will dramatize the bad deeds of these women and how God offered forgiveness and utilized them to spread the good news and glorify him,” said the Rev. Richard S. Williams, pastor of Heavenly Sent Ministries.
