RELIGION IN BRIEF | Concert to benefit New Life Fellowship

Bill Venet, Johnstown’s original “Johnny Cash,” and the Cash Review will hold a benefit concert at 7 tonight at New Life Christian Fellowship, 194 Bellevue St. in the Roxbury section of Johnstown.
Donations will benefit the church building fund.

Revival will feature evangelist, singer
A fall revival featuring evangelist and singer Art Bush of Art Bush Ministry, Chesapeake, Ohio, will be held from Sunday through Tuesday at the Christian Church of Waterford in Ligonier.
Services are 9:30 a.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday.
Church to celebrate Spiritual Life Sunday
Roxbury Church of the Brethren, 112 Sell St., Johnstown, will celebrate Spiritual Life during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.
The Rev. Eric Ritenour, former interim pastor, will be the guest minister.
His message, “Need Recharged? Plug Yourself into God,” is based on Colossians 3:1-11.
The Rev. Brian Simmons, host pastor, will serve as worship leader, with the cathedral choir providing a special anthem under the direction of Melanie Shiley accompanied by Laura Krouse.
Ritenour is a graduate of Somerset Area High School and received a degree from Messiah College.
He was licensed into the ministry at Geiger Church of the Brethren in 2000, and received his ordination through Mount Pleasant Congregation in 2004.
Ritenour is associate pastor at Codorus Church of the Brethren in Loganville, York County.
He and his wife, Rhonda, reside in York.
A covered-dish dinner will follow, where Cloud of Grace will provide a musical program.
Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Bible study will be held at 7:15 p.m. Wednesdays.
Minister to be installed in Hooversville
The Rev. Charles Statler will be installed as minister of Shade Creek-Ridge Church of the Brethren during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.
The Rev. Ron Beachley, district executive of the Church of the Brethren, will deliver the message and officiate during the installation service.
Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m.
The church is located at 1623 Ridge Road, 2 miles outside of Hooversville.
Scottish service planned in Ligonier
A Scottish worship service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Covenant Presbyterian Church, North Market and Church streets, Ligonier.
Following the service, Seton Hill University Pipe Band, under the direction of Pipe Mayor A.G. Lee, will hold a concert at 1 p.m. on the Diamond in downtown Ligonier.
Rabbi, ministers to speak at conference
Arbutus Park Retirement Community will hold a Bible conference as part of the Arbutus Park camp meeting echo service at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel.
Rabbi Irv Brandwein of the Beth Sholom Congregation in Westmont will teach from the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament).
The Revs. Jim and Thelma Mowrey will be the liturgists.
The Rev. Bill Schmeling will be the soloist.
Kugel, a Jewish treat, will be served at the fellowship time in the community room, following the service.
The Mowreys and John and Audrey Nahorniak are the chairpersons for the celebration.
Singer Hill to begin children’s ministry
Singer Hill Grace Brethren Church, 2980 William Penn Ave., Vinco, will begin its new children’s Word of Life ministry from 5:50 to 7:35 p.m. Sunday.
Programs include Gopher Buddies, for ages 4 and 5; Olympians, for first- through sixth-graders; and Teen Ministries, for seventh-graders through high school seniors.

Gospel concert set for Sunday at Beulah
Gospel Sounds Duet, featuring Steve and Apryl Caldwell of Altoona, will present a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Beulah United Methodist Church, 716 Bedford St., Johnstown.
Centennial Choir in concert on Sunday
Centennial Choir, under the direction of Kevin Luke, will present a concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 211 Powell Ave., Cresson.
A social will follow in the church hall.
Mount Sinai to hold fall revival services
Mount Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, 111 Cambria St., Johnstown, will hold its annual fall revival from Monday through Friday.
The messenger will be the Rev. Eddie J. Patterson, pastor of Greater Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Detroit.
Taize Prayer Services at Pitt-Johnstown
Taize Prayer Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 1, with the exception of Oct. 27, in the Whalley Chapel on the Pitt-Johnstown campus, Richland Township.
Aglow will hold luau, testimony night
Aglow International’s Ebensburg Community Lighthouse women’s nondenominational ministry will hold a luau and testimony night at 6:30 Thursday at Ebensburg Senior Activity Center.
