RELIGION IN BRIEF | Light House ministries will hold yard sale

Light House Morning Star Ministries will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to benefit a boys home in Mexico.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Donations for the mission outreach can be sent to Morning Star Ministries, 3658 Highway 580, Cherry Tree, Pa. 15724, before Oct. 1.

Ministry to present two performances

Puppet Pals will present a program at 6 tonight at Roxbury Church of the Brethren, 112 Sell St., Johnstown, and at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at Roxbury St. Paul’s United Methodist Church social hall, 160 Derby St., Johnstown.

Puppet Pals (Puppets Performing About the Loving Savior), a Christ-centered ministry, consists of high school students from the Allentown area. It is directed by Jim and Beverly Howard.

Seminar to focus on ‘Bad Girls of the Bible’

A seminar on “Bad Girls of the Bible” will be presented from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at Heavenly Sent Ministries, 429 Second St., Conemaugh.

Registration will be held from 8 to 9 a.m., and a continental breakfast will be served.

From 9:15 a.m. to noon, the first half of the dramatization will be held.

A lunch break will be held from noon to 1:15 p.m., with lunch provided.

The second half of the program will be presented from 1:30 to 3:30.

Johnstown native Mary Ann Billingsley, founder of Refresh-Her Ministries of Mansfield, Texas, will sum up the seminar during a worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday.

After the service, the public is invited to meet the cast at 1 p.m.

Grace Church holding services in Ebensburg

Pastor Rick Clark will lead services at 10 a.m. Sundays at Grace Church in Ebensburg.

The congregation meets at the Young People’s Community Center, 300 Prave St., Ebensburg.

Churches schedule fall revival services

The following churches will hold fall revival services:

Berkey Church of the Brethren, 1038 Church Drive, Windber, 10 a.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, with guest speaker, the Rev. Eric Brubaker, pastor of Middle Creek Church of the Brethren. Singing will begin at 6:45. Nursery will be provided.

Ridge Church of the Brethren, 513 Ridge Road, Hooversville, 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday.

Windber Church of the Brethren, 500 19th St., Windber, 7 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, with the Rev. Wilbur Hosler as guest speaker. Nursery will be provided.

Church to celebrate Women’s Day

Women’s Day will be celebrated during the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service at Second Baptist Church, 241 E. Campbell St., Blairsville.

Gwendolyn O. Hinton, pastor of Fountain Baptist Church in Summit, N.J., will speak during the afternoon program at 4.

Ronnie C. Morris Sr. is the pastor. Russell D. Whitfield is assistant to the pastor.

Evangelist to speak at Spring Meadow

Joey Perez, a former gang leader and president and founder of Worldwide Evangelistic Ministries, will speak during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Spring Meadow Family Worship Center, Route 56, Fishertown.

Garfield Street UM noting anniversary

Members of Garfield Street United Methodist Church in Johnstown will celebrate the church’s 130th anniversary with a praise service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

Special music will be provided by the choir and Ed Miller.

Kevin Balog is the organist, and Joann Tilson, pianist.

The Rev. Larry Rowe will be the guest preacher.

Comments will be made by Diane Wasilisian and Thelma Griffeth of Shawl Ministry.

A dinner will follow.

Pilgrim church to note pastor’s anniversary

Pastor Robert T. Scholfield’s anniversary will be observed during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service at Pilgrim Church of God in Christ, 108 Poplar St., Johnstown. Assistant Pastor Joseph M. Jones will speak.

Pastor Melvin Jenkins of Victory Christian Assembly, Indiana, will speak during the 4 p.m. service.

Women’s Day at Stevens Memorial

The fourth annual Women’s Day Celebration will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Stevens Memorial Holy Church, 314 William Penn Ave., Johnstown.

“Godly Women Making a Difference for the Lord” is the theme.

Evangelist Lisa Graves of Abundant Life Ministries will speak.

Dinner will be served following the service.

Marriage encounter at Seven Springs

A worldwide marriage encounter weekend will begin at 8 p.m. Friday and continue through 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Somerset.
