  • End of term
    Today marks the final edition of The Tribune-Democrat’s Scholastic Showcase series for the 2007-2008 school year.

  • High school seniors can earn cosmetology license
    The cosmetology program at Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center is an opportunity for interested students to earn 1,250 hours needed to take the board that grants them a cosmetologist license in the state.

  • Class raises $ for babies
    Students in the child development and education program at Greater Johnstown Career and Technoloy Center, including myself, Chelsea Phillips and Crystal McLain, have been working on the March of Dimes’ March for Babies fundraiser.

  • Teaching tool | Students learn real-life skills restoring Freightliner
    When people ask what I do at Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center, I tell them that I am in the diesel technology program. This is my third and final year attending GJCTC, and I was thrilled to hear about the new project at the beginning of the year. A few weeks after school started, the school received a Freightliner.

  • Hands-on house project
    At the beginning of the school year, students in the construction programs at Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center were in for a surprise. They were going to build a house.

  • Graphic designers create one-of-a-kind prints
    Crystal Berkebile designed a special T-shirt for Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center students, faculty and staff to wear for the March of Dimes walk on April 27. I helped print more than 50 T-shirts for the event.

  • GJCTC, Lampire a winning team
    As a senior at Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center, I have worked with Lampire Biological Laboratories for three years, participating in research projects and internships.

  • Gym class all about games
    Most of the students enjoy gym class at Somerset Christian School. From 2 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday and Friday afternoons, fourth- fifth- and sixth-graders participate.

  • Sixth-graders place in art contest
    Every Wednesday afternoon at Somerset Christian School, art class is held for sixth-graders. The class has made many different projects. Some are more time consuming than others.
