Most of the students enjoy gym class at Somerset Christian School.
From 2 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday and Friday afternoons, fourth- fifth- and sixth-graders participate.
Pupils begin the class by warming up.
Anita Yoder, the teacher, goes over the instructions for the game.
The pupils spend four class periods on the game.
Football, basketball, baseball, soccer and softball are played.
The basics of dribbling, throwing, batting and shooting are taught.
Pupils learn advanced techniques for the sports, and also play fun games.
In November, pupils had a hoop shoot. The goal was to make 25 shots.
Another fun game is cone-ball. There are two cones on either side of the gym. It is like dodgeball except the team that knocks over the opposing team’s cones wins.
Another fun activity is parachute. Parachute is used to make wind that blows on each pupil and then balls are bounced on it.
