GJCTC JUNIOR
Students in the child development and education program at Greater Johnstown Career and Technoloy Center, including myself, Chelsea Phillips and Crystal McLain, have been working on the March of Dimes’ March for Babies fundraiser.
The class is devoting its time to the project to help struggling children get the help they need to grow up and lead normal lives.
The class gets to do so many things with the children enrolled in the Learning Lamp Daycare Programs, which are housed at GJCTC.
Students in the program plan lessons, observe and interact with the children.
My classmates and I work on bulletin boards around the school.
The bulletin boards are also used to promote worthy causes such as the March of Dimes.
The class has done many things to bring awareness to this cause.
My friends and I made a bulletin board into a graph and listed all of the programs at GJCTC on it.
To help get the students motivated, GJCTC and the March of Dimes promised the program area that raised the most money would get a pizza party.
Weekly, money is collected and paper feet are hung on a graph to chart each program’s progress.
At the end of the benefit, $700 was raised.
As a whole, the programs at GJCTC raised more than $2,000.
