Pitt-Johnstown senior infielder Dan DelSignore was named to the second team ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District II team on Thursday.
DelSignore, a graduate of Bishop McCort High School, has posted a 3.46 G.P.A. in secondary mathematics education.
DelSignore has started all 53 of UPJ’s games this season. He is third on the team in batting average at .354 (67-189).
His 67 hits, 50 runs 189 at-bats and 14 hit-by-pitches all lead the Mountain Cats, while his 18 doubles are second on the team.
DelSignore is also third in home runs (five) and total bases and fourth in RBIs (32).
DelSignore, who has helped UPJ to a school-best 35-17-1 overall record and the No. 4 ranking in this week’s NCAA Division II North Atlantic Region poll, also received the WVIAC male student-athlete award in March.
The members of the College Sports Information Directors’ of America (CoSIDA) selected this year’s first and second team academic all-district teams.
To be nominated for the Academic All-America Program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade-point-average and be a starter or significant reserve.
