Baseball

Delweld 22, Roxberry Creamery 2

Delweld sent 19 batters to the plate in the decisive fourth inning of Thursday’s game at Roxbury Park, producing 14 runs on 10 hits to break open a 8-0 game and end the outing after five innings.

George Roberts’ two-run homer in the first inning got Delweld off to a strong start. He and Zach Vignero finished with three hits each while Tyler Uphouse and Seth Roy had two apiece.

Joel Ackerman homered for Roxberry while Ty Holderbaum had an RBI double. Paul Destefano also doubled for the Creamery.



Late Wednesday

Renegades 7, Bulldogs 4

Dan Gray had two hits and Ben Doak drove in three runs with a triple as the Berkley Hills Renegades edged the Highland Bulldogs in Wednesday’s late game at the Point. Cory Kaltenbaugh tossed a complete game with five strikeouts and seven hits allowed. The Bulldogs’ Mark Saxman had a two-run triple.



Cambria Legion

Somerset 10, Cernic’s 0

FERRELLTON – Somerset evened its best-of-3 semifinal series against Cernic’s at one game apiece after a shutout victory.

Joe Foltz led Somerset offensively, going 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBIs. Cody Hemminger went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Chase Dykstra was 2-for-2 and scored twice. Devin Pritts also scored a pair of runs.

The deciding game of the series will be today at Franklin Field.

Claysburg 6, Westmont 4

Claysburg swept its best-of-3 semifinal series with a victory at Westmont on Thursday.

Claysburg’s Cody Swope went 3-for-4, and Mike Blair and Zack Morrow each had two hits. With the game tied at 4, Jordan Saylor led off the seventh with a double, and Mike Blair doubled him home. Morrow singled in another run. Claysburg’s Dave McMurtrie struck out six in a five-hitter.

Westmont’s Brian Marshall and Chris Garaventa each had a run-producing double.



Hockey

ECHL

Chiefs re-sign defenseman Bushee

The Johnstown Chiefs announced Thursday that the ECHL team re-signed defensemen Kyle Bushee.

The Otsego, Mich., native will play his second full season in the league. Bushee played 67 games for the Chiefs last season and was tied for third among team defensemen with 23 points (four goals, 19 assists).
