Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says talks with the team’s top two draft picks are “going well” and he expects both to be in training camp on time.
Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall is said to be negotiating a five-year contract while second-round pick Limas Sweed is discussing a four-year deal.
Sweed is a wide receiver from Texas who the Steelers hope will become the lanky, go-to target quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has coveted since Plaxico Burress left to sign with the New York Giants.
The Steelers other five draft picks are already signed.
Players report to camp on Sunday. Two-a-day practices begin Monday at St. Vincent College near Latrobe.
