Altoona Regional in full swing
ALTOONA – Matt Scholley went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Altoona Johnston Realty in a win over Buffalo in the AAABA Altoona Regional Tournament.
Buffalo beat Elk County 13-8 earlier Saturday.
Elk County plays Buffalo at noon today with the winner facing Altoona at 4 p.m.
The essay contest is back
n What: AAABA essay contest, sponsored by The Tribune-Democrat.
n How to enter: In no more than 200 words, answer this question: “What is your all-time favorite AAABA tournament team, and why?”
n Deadline: Thursday, Aug. 7.
n Submission: Entries may be mailed to AAABA Essay Contest, The Tribune-Democrat, 425 Locust Street, P.O. Box 340, Johnstown, Pa. 15901; e-mailed to sports@tribdem.com; or dropped off at the newspaper office on Locust Street in Johnstown, or at the Somerset office at 257 Plank Road.
n Prizes: The grand-prize winner will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the second night game at Point Stadium. That person and two other runners-up will receive four all-week passes to tournament games. The Tribune-Democrat will announce winners and publish the winning essay on Sunday, Aug. 10.
