Falcons clip Tomahawks in overtime

Port Huron, Mich. — The Johnstown Tomahawks squandered a pair of two-goal leads and fell 4-3 in overtime to Port Huron in Game 2 of the North Division semifinals on Friday night.

Johnstown trails the best-of-5 series 2-0 and will try to avoid elimination when the series moves to Cambria County War Memorial Arena on Friday.

Jordan Watt scored 8:05 into the second period, and Brandon Reinholz found the net during a short-handed situation at 10:24 to give the Tomahawks a 2-0 advantage on the road.

Port Huron’s Noah Batis got the Fighting Falcons on the board with only 38 seconds left in the second period.

The Tomahawks bounced back via Trevor Recktenwald’s goal 4:29 into the final period.

But the Fighting Falcons’ Lucas Little and Elliot Tisdale each scored goals about five minutes apart to tie the game at 3-all with 6:46 to play.

Tisdale scored the game-winner 9:31 into the overtime session.

The Fighting Falcons outshot the Tomahawks, 52-36.

Johnstown goaltender Brett Young stopped 48 shots.

Port Huron’s Alex Blankenburg had 33 saves.

Johnstown went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Falcons failed to convert on six power-play opportunities.
