Somerset at Bishop McCort
McCort scored its first touchdown of the season late in the fourth quarter to take its first lead of the game at Forest Hills. But the Rangers rallied to score in the final minute to win in Sidman.
Still, after the close setback, the Crushers appeared to regain some of their swagger. Sophomore quarterback Blake Wade efficiently led the offense, and junior running back Marc Smith ran for more than 100 yards and scored the team’s lone touchdown. Punter Braden Junker twice pinned the Rangers inside their own 5-yard line, leading to a pair of momentum-swaying, fourth-quarter safeties.
Undefeated Somerset has one of the conference’s top quarterbacks, senior Tanner Stull, who has completed 18 of 31 passes for 261 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing 29 times for 195 yards and two scores. Stull averages 6.7 yards a run. Raven Beeman caught five passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
