Laurel Auto beats Delweld

Anthony Piccolini’s two-run home run was the highlight of Laurel Auto Group’s 5-3 victory over Delweld on Tuesday in a AAABA League game at Roxbury Park.

Zac Heide and catcher Derrick Zavatsky had two hits each for Laurel.

Ian Helsel, Josh Staniscia and Austin Sleek had two hits each for Delweld.

Ophthalmic gets past Martella’s

Kirk Davis singled in Josh Bracken with the go-ahead run as Ophthalmic Associates rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth inning to down Martella’s Pharmacy 9-6

Martella’s led 6-3 but Justin Donaldson’s three-run double tied the game in the sixth.

Alex Beiler had three hits while Davis and Cory Furry had two hits and Cam Kaminsky drew four walks.

Pat Gully had three hits and Dillon Boyer, Anthony Fanelli and Luke Williams each had two hits for Martella’s.

Delweld wins late game

Delweld notched a significant win over Laurel Auto Group, 4-2, on Monday night in the late game at Point Stadium.

The victory clinched the regular-season No. 1 seed for the playoffs and earned Delweld a tournament appearance in the national AAABA Tournament set to begin on Aug. 5.

Devin Pritts was 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored and a run batted in for Delweld, which also got a pair of 2 of 4 outings from Eric Weyant and Ian Helsel. Weyant also had a double and Helsel drove in a run.

Ben Webb was 2 for 2 and was walked twice while Zach Heide had a double and a run batted in for Laurel Auto Group.

Playoffs delayed until Saturday

The AAABA League playoffs have been pushed back a day and will open on Saturday.

There will be a pair of make-up games at Point Stadium on Thursday with First Commonwealth facing Laurel Auto Group at 5:30 p.m. and Delweld playing Martella’s Pharmacy at 7:45 p.m.

Friday will be an off day for the league.
