Curve win is fourth straight

ALTOONA – The Altoona Curve blanked the Trenton Thunder, 4-0, in front of a season-high 6,928 fans at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Saturday night.

The game marks the fourth straight victory for Altoona – tying the longest winning streak of the season. Curve starter Nick Kingham (1-0) turned in a sparkling debut in his first Double-A start, striking out seven and shutting out Trenton through 52⁄3 innings.

Altoona’s steady offensive performance began in the fourth.

Adalberto Santos led off the inning with a high-bouncing single up the middle. Santos then stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball. Gregory Polanco walked and stole a base of his own, putting two runners in scoring position. After an Alex Dickerson strikeout, Jarek Cunningham grounded out to short, bringing home Santos.

The Curve scored another run in the fifth inning as Justin Howard walked to open the inning and Gift Ngoepe moved him to third with a long double that landed on the warning track. Mel Rojas Jr. then grounded out, earning the RBI as Howard scored easily from third for a 2-0 lead.

Pharmacy gets past Wise

CRESSON – Jesse Cooper was

2-for-3 with a run scored as Martella’s Pharmacy defeated Wise Trailers, 7-2, on Saturday at Mount Aloysius in interleague play.

Anthony Fanelli, Pat Gully and Luke Williams each drove in a run for Martella’s. Kyle Morrow had a solo home run for Wise.

Martella’s shuts down Ketrow

CRESSON – Dillon Boyer was

3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored as Martella’s Pharmacy thumped Ketrow Insurance,

18-0, in a five-inning interleague game at Mount Aloysius.

Jesse Cooper scored three times, Jordan Giannini added a double, a triple and three RBI for Martella’s, which also got a double and four runs scored from Luke Williams along with two hits apiece from Matt McMillen and Christian Leech.

Jaret Berardinelli had Ketrow’s lone hit.
