St. Michael 13-0, Richland 5-2: In St. Michael, the hosts and Richland split a doubleheader on Sunday.
In the opener, Gavin Oswalt was 3-for-4, scored a run and drove in two for St. Michael in the win. The Saints’ Ryan Wilson and Jared Baker had two hits each.
Shawn Kaiser, Ryan Orlovsky and Steve Moxim each had two hits for Richland in the first game.
The second game was a pitcher’s duel between Orlovsky and Oswalt. Richland’s Orlovsky had 11 strikeouts for the win while Oswalt had 10.
Four consecutive singles in the top of the seventh helped Richland score a pair of runs to get the victory.
Oswalt ruined Orlovsky’s perfect game with a single to lead off the bottom of the seventh, the only hit the Saints could muster.
Patton 13-7, Cernic’s 0-2: In Patton, host Patton swept a doubleheader over Cernic’s, cementing its lead in the North Division.
In the opener, Dom Milanesi was 3-for-3 and scored three runs as Patton shut out the visitors in five innings.
Jarid Ivory and Adam Polites were both 2-for-4 with two RBI each for the Red Men (12-2), who also got a 2-for-2 outing with two RBI from Josh Prasko.
In the second game, Ivory and Prasko each had a double and two RBI while Alex Roper hit a double and drove in a run for Cernic’s.
Stoystown 10, Somerset 1: In Cairnbrook, Ryan Fyock was 3-for-4, including a home run, drove in three runs and scored two as Stoystown downed visiting Somerset.
Nash Walker was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Brian Spangler and Zach Shaulis were both 2-for-4 and Ben Duppstadt had a double for the hosts.
Eric Costea was 3-for-3 and Brendon Bowser had a double for Somerset.
Curve swept by Bowie Baysox
BOWIE, Md. – Eddie Gamboa pitched a no-hitter into the eighth inning as Bowie completed a sweep of visiting Altoona with a 1-0 victory on Sunday at Prince George’s Stadium.
Justin Howard broke up Gamboa’s no-hit bid with a one-out single in the eighth inning.
David Bromberg pitched well for the Curve as he allowed one run over 5 2⁄3 innings with seven strikeouts and six walks.
Josh Horton, who doubled, scored on Ty Kelly’s single against Curve reliever Kenn Kasparek.
Altoona returns home for four games in three days starting today against New Britain. Eliecer Navarro and Ethan Hollingsworth are scheduled to pitch for Altoona.
