UPJ to honor Pecora

Coach Pat Pecora and the 11th-ranked Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers will close out the first semester against Ohio Valley tonight at 7 in the Sports Center.

Prior to the match, UPJ will recognize Pecora’s NCAA Division II record 500th-career victory.

On Feb. 14, Pecora became the first NCAA Division II wrestling coach to reach 500 wins when his Mountain Cats defeated Shippensburg 39-3.

In addition, the university will officially launch the 500 & Beyond campaign to support Pitt-Johnstown’s wrestling program with a reception starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center Hall of Fame Room.

Tickets are $25 for adults (includes hors d’oeuvres, two tickets for wine or beer, soft drinks and match ticket) and $15 for those younger than 21 (includes hors d’oeuvres, soft drinks and match ticket) RSVP to Abby Gearhart-Hoffman:, or 269-7174

Pecora and the Mountain Cats come in with a 2-2 dual meet record following Tuesday’s 34-6 victory over No. 20 East Stroudsburg in the Sports Center.
