Tomahawks force deciding Game 3

PORT HURON, Mich. — The Johnstown Tomahawks will get at least one more game.

And where better to play a deciding third game than in the confines of Cambria County War Memorial Arena?

Thanks to a pair of second-period goals and 33 saves by Chris Truehl, Johnstown forged a split with fourth-seeded Port Huron with a 2-0 win over the Fighting Falcons at McMorran Arena.

Johnstown and Port Huron are tied at a game apiece in their best-of-three series. The winner advances to the North Division semifinals against an opponent to be determined later. Top-seeded Sault Ste. Marie will face the lowest remaining seed while Jamestown tackles the higher remaining seed between the winners of the Fighting Falcons-Tomahawks series and the 3-6 series between Kalamazoo and Springfield.

Game 3 of the North Division Play-in series will start at 3 p.m., Sunday  at the War Memorial.

Jeff Bergh gave the Tomahawks their first goal – and lead - of the series at 6:45 of the second with an unassisted marker. Just 55 seconds later, Cobi Smith-Mass potted his first of the postseason with assists from Brandon Reinholz and Connor Wright.

Port Huron’s Max Milosek stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced one night after blanking the Tomahawks, 3-0.

Individual tickets for the deciding third game are on sale starting today at 10 a.m.

Fans can purchase tickets at the War Memorial Box Office until 5 p.m., through Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000, or on JohnstownTomahawks.com.
