Ex-Pirate Bream in charity event

CRESSON – Former Pirates and Braves first baseman Sid Bream will appear at the 17th annual celebrity scholarship Tournament to benefit student scholarships at Mount Aloysius College.

The charity event will be held June 13th at the Summit Country Club in Cresson.

Bream was drafted in the second round in 1981 by the Los Angeles Dodgers.  He is remembered for scoring the winning run with a slide into home in 1992, beating the Pirates and sending the Braves to the World Series. Bream’s career included stops with the Los Angeles Dodgers (1983-1985); Pirates (1985-1990); Braves (1991-1993); and the Houston Astros (1994).

The Mount Aloysius College golf outing begins with breakfast and registration at 9 a.m. 

A shotgun start is scheduled for 10 a.m.  The format is a four person scramble, flighted by handicap. n outdoor steak barbeque and awards presentations caps the event.
