JOHNSTOWN — Renegades pin loss on Delweld

The Renegades’ Tyler Smith struck out seven and pitched six innings to earn a 8-1 win against Delweld in the AAABA League.

The Renegade’s Jay Shriley had two singles and knocked in a run. 

Dan McGrath hit a double in the win. 

Delweld’s Alex Dirienzo hit a double. 

Claysburg beats St. Michael

ST. MICHAEL – Claysburg’s Zack Cox went 4-for-5, scored twice, and had three RBI to help upend St. Michael 10-1 in the Cambria Legion League. 

Claysburg’s Ethan Lewis and Mike Mock had three hits. Lucas Eberhart had two singles in the win. 

St. Michael’s Don Panick, Joe Donaughe, Zack Sherman and Tom Smith each hit a single.

Lilly slips

past Cernics

LILLY – Lilly’s Jake Hurley hit a double that drove in three runs for a 8-7 victory over  Cernic’s. 

Lilly’s Zane Itle came in the sixth inning for Garret Martynuska and struck out two to earn the win. Itle also had a hit with two RBI. 

Cernic’s Drew Furman went

4-for-4 with two RBI and Blake Furman had three hits with two doubles. Anthony Verno had two doubles and scored two runs in the loss.

Bedford rolls over Somerset

SOMERSET – Bedford’s Dylan Downs had two hits with two RBI and scored three runs in a 7-4 win againt Somerset.

Bedford’s Austin Montgomery had two hits and knocked in a run. 

Somerset’s Eric Costea had two hits with an RBI.

  • Dodgers Pirates Polanco, Walker lift Pirates over Dodgers

    Gregory Polanco broke out of a slump with a solo home run and a tiebreaking two-run single, lifting the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 12-7 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night.
    Polanco, hitting just .133 in his previous 11 games, smacked a bases-loaded single with two outs in the sixth to put Pittsburgh in front for good.

    That rally also continued season-long trends for the clubs, according to their respective managers.

  • Pirates 0721 Rallying Dodgers snap Pirates’ win streak at 3 games

    Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched seven strong innings, Adrian Gonzalez reached base five times and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 on Monday night.
    Ryu (11-5) joined Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw in making the Dodgers the first team in the majors with three 11-game winners.

    Taking the extra base was the key for the Pittsburgh Pirates in completing a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies.
    Andrew McCutchen hit a tiebreaking single in the seventh inning, Neil Walker followed with a home run and the Pirates overcame a three-run deficit to beat the Rockies 5-3 Sunday.
