Roberts honored by conference
George Roberts of Kent State was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week on Monday after a weekend sweep of Bowling Green.
Roberts hit .750 in three games against the Falcons, picking up six hits in eight at-bats. Two of those hits were doubles. The former Forest Hills and AAABA standout also walked twice and was hit by a pitch.
He led the team with seven RBI and did not strike out once at the plate. Defensively, he did not commit an error and had 32 putouts with three assists. The successful weekend put his batting average through 18 conference games over the .400 mark.
