Charges pending in shooting, crash Pittsburgh's I-376

Associated Press

PITTSBURGH State police say they expect to file attempted homicide and other charges against the driver of a vehicle who allegedly fired shots at another vehicle, prompting a crash on a busy Pittsburgh interstate.

Police believe a 31-year-old Pittsburgh man who broke his neck in the crash about 3:45 a.m. Monday fired several shots at another vehicle on Interstate 376 east of downtown. Police believe the occupants of both vehicles knew each other, though they’re not sure of a motive in the shooting.

Police say the driver of the targeted vehicle then crashed into the shooter’s vehicle so he couldn’t get away. Parts of the major rush-hour artery were closed for nearly five hours.

The driver of the second vehicle is being treated for crash injuries and a gunshot wound. His passenger was treated and released.
