NJ worker killed by concrete slab near Pittsburgh

Associated Press

PLUM Federal workplace safety officials are investigating the death of a New Jersey construction worker crushed by a concrete slab at a job site near Pittsburgh.

Police in Plum Borough say 29-year-old Yamil Gonzalez was killed about 2 p.m. Thursday while working at an assisted living facility about 15 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Gonzalez worked for P&B Partitions of West Berlin, N.J. Plum police say Gonzalez was moving a piece of machinery on the fourth floor of a building under construction when a crane hit a concrete floor slab above him, causing it to fall.

Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials were expected to arrive Friday to investigate the accident.
