Ex-teacher to trial on charges he sexted girl

HOPEWELL — A western Pennsylvania high school teacher has been ordered to stand trial on charges he sexted and fondled a former student.

Charges including possession of child pornography and other crimes were held for court Thursday against 37-year-old Joseph Rubino, of Aliquippa,  after the alleged victim, now 18, testified about two years’ worth of alleged cellphone and other contact she had with Rubino. The alleged victim says that began when she was a sophomore at Hopewell High School, and that Rubino hit her in the face when she threated to report his unwanted advances.

Rubino’s attorney denies his client sent the texts or received nude cell phone pictures of the girl.

But the Beaver County Times reports prosecutors say Rubino deleted that information once he learned of the investigation. They say he has confessed, however.
