Tom Wolf, a wealthy central Pennsylvania businessman and former state revenue secretary, is the latest person to say he's running for governor next year. He plans to spend at least $10 million of his own money running for the 2014 Democratic nomination to challenge Gov. Tom Corbett.
MR. CORBETT GOES TO WASHINGTON
Gov. Tom Corbett is set to meet with U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today on whether he'll seek an expansion of Medicaid. Corbett has said he has unanswered questions about Medicaid expansion, and wants more flexibility to tailor benefits packages to different types of Medicaid enrollees as a way to save money.
AGNUS BERENATO OUT AS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH AT PITT
The university fired Berenato after the Panthers failed to win a conference game in the school's last season in the Big East. Pitt is moving to the Atlantic Coast Conference and athletic director Steve Pederson wants a new coach to lead the team into the new conference.
PITTSBURGH CONTROLLER MICHAEL LAMB IS OUT, TOO
No, not out of a job ... but he has dropped out of the Democratic primary race for mayor. Instead, Lamb says he'll support former state auditor general Jack Wagner. Wagner and City Councilman Bill Peduto are now the two leading Democrats seeking to replace Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, who is not running for re-election.
