Philly police fatally shoot armed man on bike

PHILADELPHIA — Police in Philadelphia say they shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at officers who said he was acting suspiciously.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says the man refused repeated orders to drop his weapon before being shot and killed around midnight Monday in West Philadelphia.

Investigators say officers saw a man on a bike acting suspiciously and he pointed a gun at officers during a struggle. Police say they recovered a handgun at the scene.

The man’s name was not immediately released. No officers were injured.
