Woman gives birth in Latrobe parking lot

LATROBE — A Latrobe man who missed his daughter’s birth when he was serving overseas with the Navy two years ago was more hands-on for his son’s birth.

Jon Quicquaro says he was driving his wife, Rochelle, to Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital in Latrobe on Thursday when her labor intensified.

The man says he pulled into a Barnes & Noble parking lot on Route 30 and called 911.

But before help could arrive, the couple’s 7-pound, 11-ounce son, Wesley, did – right into Quicquaro’s arms. He joins sister Maci, who was born when her father was stationed in Iraq.

Quicquaro says missing his daughter’s birth “has been a huge regret” but says being there to deliver his son “is exactly what I needed in my life.”
