Fugitive blaming cable guy for hurting 2-year-old boy

MCKEES ROCKS — County detectives say a Pittsburgh man wanted on charges that he broke the leg and rib of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son is blaming the injuries on the cable guy.

WPXI-TV says 18-year-old Cory Lynn Estes Jr. told investigators the child tripped over a cable television wire the worker was installing before she returned home Jan. 4 to find the boy hurt and in tears.

Allegheny County police say Estes was babysitting and didn’t call her or 911 before she returned to find the child injured.

Doctors at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh found the boy suffered a broken rib and femur and tell police the boy’s injuries aren’t consistent with him tripping over the wire. Instead, doctors say it would have taken “significant force” to break the child’s leg.

Police on Friday were still looking for Estes.
