Teen held in sex assault, suspected in others

PITTSBURGH — A teen charged with publicly molesting a woman as she walked to a Pittsburgh bus stop is suspected in three similar attacks in the last several days.

Pittsburgh police have so far charged the 17-year-old with grabbing and fondling a 24-year-old woman near a bus stop late Wednesday night.

But police say based on the facts of that case and the teen’s description, they believe he’s responsible for indecently assaulting three other young women in separate late-night incidents since June 26.

Police are not identifying the teen, because he’s being prosecuted through the Allegheny County Juvenile Court system. Police say the teen is on probation for a similar incident involving a 16-year-old girl. He was found guilty in juvenile court of trying to rape a 16-year-old girl after she stepped off a bus last August.
