UPDATE: Pennsylvania Turnpike reopens after accident

Accident at milepost 181 westbound has been cleared.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike is now open westbound between the Carlisle Interchange (milepost 226) and the Breezewood Interchange (milepost 161). Emergency crews have cleared the scene of an earlier accident at milepost 181 westbound.

However, the reduced 45 mph speed limit is still effect on the Pennsylvania Turnpike mainline from the New Stanton Interchange (milepost 75) to Morgantown Interchange (milepost 298) due to the winter weather conditions.

Turnpike maintenance crews are actively treating the roadway throughout the region and the Turnpike's Traffic Operations Center will continue monitoring the weather across the system. If conditions improve, the restrictions will be lifted at the suitable time.
