Man jailed for assault of woman in Somerset County cabin

SOMERSET — A man has been jailed on charges he physically assaulted a woman at an apartment and later at a remote cabin in Somerset County after she refused to join in a sexual threesome involving another woman.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 37-year-old Jody Peterman, of Somerset, who allegedly began assaulting the 31-year-old woman in the apartment about 10 a.m. Saturday. Among other things, police say Peterman pinched the woman with clothespins then beat her with a belt, and also held a knife to her neck.

Police say he then drove her to the cabin in Stonycreek Township where he continued the assault, until she escaped and was able to flag down a car by someone who took her to Somerset Hospital.

Peterman has been charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and other crimes.
