Boy, 13, in custody in threat against teacher

CANONSBURG —

A southwestern Pennsylvania seventh grader is in juvenile custody after police say he told a school counselor he wanted to fatally shoot a teacher.

Canonsburg police are not releasing the name of the boy because he's just 13, but say they learned of the threat Friday and took the boy into custody Monday.

The boy had already been suspended from Canonsburg Middle School about 15 miles south of PIttsburgh because school officials found stolen keys to the school in his possession. Police don't know if the boy took the keys in hopes of acting on his threat, but have charged the boy with terroristic threats and theft so he could be incarcerated and get counseling.

Police say school officials alerted them to the threat and that the boy has no history of violence.
