Flash flood watch issued for region

JOHNSTOWN — A flash flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for Cambria, Somerset and Bedford counties until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service in State College said that showers and thunderstorms today and into the night will produce downpours in those three counties as well as in Clearfield County. Some areas could pick up more than an inch and a half of rain in a very short time. The heavy rainfall may cause creeks and streams to overflow.

Storms are most likely this afternoon and through the middle of the night, according to the weather service. The showers should taper off toward sunrise on Tuesday.
