Police: Substitute teacher had sex with 2 students

NEW BRIGHTON — A substitute English teacher at a western Pennsylvania high school has been charged with having sex with two 18-year-old students days before they graduated.

The attorney for 26-year-old Tiffany Leiseth, of Moon Township, didn’t immediately return a call for comment on two felony counts of having sexual contact with a student and one count of providing alcohol to a minor.

Eighteen-year-olds can’t drink in Pennsylvania, though they can legally consent to sex. But police charge that was still a crime because the incidents occurred when Leiseth still had a teacher-student relationship with the male students.

New Brighton schools superintendent Joseph Guarino contacted police after he learned of the incidents. Police determined both boys had sex with Leiseth in late May, after she invited them home on separate days.

Leiseth no longer works for the district.
