Cold, snow arriving after brief warm-up
HARRISBURG – After a brief warm-up this past week, temperatures across Pennsylvania dropped Saturday in advance of a winter storm and what is expected to be a very cold week.
The National Weather Service reported that temperatures across Pennsylvania were in the 20s and 30s on Saturday, with flurries in some portions of the state expected before storms arrive this evening.
Barry Lambert, a National Weather Service meteorologist in State College, said the snow will start later today with cold air moving over the area before warmer air from the south thaws it into sleet and freezing rain.
The precipitation will spread across much of Pennsylvania into Monday.
The accumulations won’t be large, but it will be enough to make travel troubling, Lambert said.
“Things could get a little messy for driving,” he said.
