PORT HURON, Mich. —
The Tomahawks scored three goals in the third period on Saturday to take a 3-1 win over the Fighting Falcons and close to within four points of first-place Port Huron in the NAHL North.
Josh Bowes scored first for Johnstown, taking a red-line pass from Mitch Hall before sliding the puck past the left skate of Falcons goaltender Max Milosek at 7:50.
Hall’s assist was his 20th this season.
Tommy Hall and Jordan Watt took advantage of a two-on-one opportunity at 13:55 to extend the Tomahawks lead. Hall took the puck near the red line, then gave it to Watt, who fired it past Milosek from the right side.
Nick LeSage got the Fighting Falcons on the board, scoring from above the right faceoff circle at 15:21.
But Shane Bednard sealed the victory when a shot from between the faceoff circles on the Tomahawks’ end of the ice hit the left post and rolled into the empty net at 19:47. Bednard now has five points against the Fighting Falcons this season.
Alex Okicki was solid in net for the Tomahawks, stopping 35 of 36 shots for his 13th win of the season. Milosek allowed two goals on 25 shots.
