Hillary Hazlett, Michael Walsh

JOHNSTOWN — Hillary Hazlett and Michael Walsh were married June 8, 2013, in a garden wedding at Lime Spring Farm, Lancaster.

The Rev. James Rank of Portage and the Honorable Amanda Cooperman of Philadelphia, cousin of the bride, officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Robert and Sheva Hazlett of Portage.

The groom is the son of James and Mary Walsh of West Chester, Pa.

Attendants for the bride were Kristy Kargo and Alisha Slanoc, both of Portage; Angela Tobin of Malvern, Pa.; and Melissa Rohrbach of Breinigsville, Pa.

The groom was attended by his brother, Scott Walsh of Malvern, Pa.; and Christopher Tobin of Malvern, Pa.; Timothy Golding of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Michael Kriak of New York, N.Y.; Matthew Mancuso of Buffalo, N.Y.; and David Hansz of Accokeek, Md.

The ceremony included readings by Tyler and Sarah Hazlett, brother and sister-in-law of the bride; Jennifer Scanlon, sister of the groom; and Christopher Avvampato, friend of the groom. The mothers of the bride and groom read a poem while a Celtic Handfasting was performed with a cloth made from their wedding gowns.

A reception was held following the ceremony at Lime Spring Farm.

The bride is a graduate of Portage Area High School and attended Central Pennsylvania Business School.

She is a freelance court reporter and closed captioner in Harrisburg.

The groom is a graduate of Archbishop John Carroll High School and St. Vincent College.

He earned a master’s degree from the J. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University.

He serves as chief of staff at HACC – Central Pennsylvania’s community college.

The newlyweds reside in Harrisburg.
