Free celebration in Richland Township

The sixth annual Richland Community Days will be held from 4 p.m. to midnight today and 9 a.m. to midnight Saturday on Schoolhouse Road and Theatre Drive, near Richland Township Municipal Building.

There will be music, food, a Richland alumni tent and children’s activities.

A parade, which will march up Theatre Drive, will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday.

A fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Admission and parking are free.

Charity cruise

BPOE Lodge No. 175 Cruise Classic V will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lorain Borough ballpark.

There will be live music and picnic-style food.

Proceeds benefit the Cerebral Palsy Home Service Program, one of the lodge’s main fundraisers.

Registration for the cruise is $5, and the public will be admitted free.

Books and blooms

“The Literary Gardener,” a biennial flower show of the Garden Club of Johnstown, will be presented from 1 to 4 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Cambria County Library, 248 Main St., downtown Johnstown.

Entries will be displayed at four different locations in the library.

Admission is free.

Bluegrass bash

The sixth annual Laurel Hill Bluegrass Festival will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Hill State Park Complex, 1454 Laurel Hill Park Road, Somerset.

The annual bluegrass festival has a lineup of bluegrass bands,  re-enactors with hands-on demonstrations, a 5K run/walk, horse-drawn wagon rides, a climbing wall, food and craft vendors and children's activities.

All’s fair

The 113th annual Somerset County Fair will be held Saturday through Aug. 24 at the fairgrounds at 7842 Mount Davis Road, Meyersdale.

Admission is $8, and children younger than age 2 will be admitted free.

Spy farce

The farce “Sin, Sex & the CIA” will be presented at 2 and 8 p.m. today, 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Mountain Playhouse, 7690 Somerset Pike, Jennerstown.

Tickets are $22 to $34 for evenings and $17 to $30 for matinees, which includes a $2 service charge.

Student supplies

A Back to School Bash will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Peoples Natural Gas Park, 90 Johns St., downtown Johnstown.

The event is for children from kindergarten through grade 12.

Giveaways will include school supplies, shopping sprees, free haircuts and hockey vouchers.

There also will be games, live entertainment and free food.

Admission is free.
