13 'teachers as artists' exhibiting works at Westmont arts center

JOHNSTOWN — Art and teaching merge in “The Teacher as Artist” exhibition.

The artwork, featuring current and previous arts center teachers, will be on display through Feb. 28 at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County, 1217 Menoher Blvd. in Westmont.

Watercolor, oil, acrylic, drawing, decorative painting, ceramics, carved stone and wood burning will be featured.

The techniques for these art forms are taught in the classes and workshops the arts centers offers.

Thirteen artists will have works in the show.

Josette Brighenti of Johnstown teaches drawing and acrylic painting for adults and children and will have acrylic pieces on display.

Dan Helsel of Davidsville teaches oil painting workshops for adults and will have oil paintings on display.

Lida Hood of Northern Cambria, arts center education coordinator, teaches children’s classes and art camps in art history, watercolor and mixed media.

She will have mixed media, watercolor and pastel pieces on display.

Stephanie Martin of Richland Township teaches children’s classes and art camps in drawing and painting and will have paintings and ceramic pieces on display.

Duane Webb of Johnstown teaches drawing classes for adults and will have acrylic paintings on display.

Charles Rametta of Westmont teaches photography and darkroom classes and will have regional photographs on display.

Bryan Smith of Westmont teaches Photoshop workshops and will also have regional photos on display.

Paul Rizak of Central City teaches wood-burning classes and will have woodburned plaques on display.

Joy Thwing of Westmont teaches adults and children’s wheel-thrown pottery and the writing class “The Artist as Writer” and will have functional ceramic pieces on display.

Sande Staib of Westmont teaches decorative and one-stroke painting and will have examples of work on wood on display.

Georgia Wild of Somerset teaches adult and children’s crochet classes and workshops and will have crochet with glass artwork on display.

Amanda Fetro-Woodruff of Johnstown teaches children’s art camps and adult classes and workshops in watercolor, calligraphy and oil bars and will have oil bar paintings on display.

Richard Hower of Seward teaches watercolor and acrylic classes and workshops for adults and will have watercolor and acrylic pieces on display.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
